Rites to Play: Wild About Memphis
Come explore the jungle with us during our 17th annual Rites to Play carnival! The carnival is free and open to the public with free t-shirts and free meals provided for all elementary school kids. We’re wild about Memphis and we want to celebrate the city with everyone in the community, so come out to enjoy a petting zoo, bounce houses, sno cones, and more!
AAZK’s Backstage Pass
Saturday from 6-8pm
Join Memphis Zoo keepers as they take you behind the scenes at the Hatchery and Animals of the Night. Come face-to-face with a bird of prey and meet an African penguin. Have you ever met a wombat or porcupine? Watch as keepers interact with nocturnal animals, giving them enrichment and special treats. After you’ve finished exploring, enjoy a dinner and silent auction with your keeper guides. Event begins once the gates close at 6 p.m.
Dinstuhl’s Open House
Sunday from noon-4pm
Dinstuhl’s candy makers demonstrate how they put the magic in their Chocolate Covered Strawberries, as well as other traditional Easter treats. Andrew Dinstuhl will decorate Chocolate Rabbits and Eggs as everyone samples the Easter Eggs, Pecan Brittle, Hostess Mints, Ice Chips, Chocolate Covered Grapes, Heavenly Crunch and Dinstuhl’s famous Chocolate Pecan Fudge. Judy Moss will greet the chocolate lovers as they watched the chocolates pop out of the molds. The Easter Bunny is expected to made a surprise appearance and hop down the “bunny trail” with the children throughout the afternoon.
Midtown Opera Festival: Little Red’s Most Unusual Day
During the Midtown Opera Festival, Opera Memphis will present Little Red’s Most Unusual Day at Overton Square’s Courtyard Tower on their outdoor stage! A retelling of the tale Little Red Riding Hood, this opera is wonderful for young children and families!
