I don’t have daughters, but I hear a lot of chatter from moms concerned over the clothing available as their daughters get older.  It’s too mature, as if females go from cute little kids to racy teenagers overnight.  I remember struggling at this age to find pants that were long enough.  Ugh, so awkward.

A mom asked for advice on where to purchase clothes (locally or online) for her 10 year old daughter, who is already wearing Junior-sized clothes.  “I am looking for clothing that is age appropriate and fits nicely.”  Here’s what the moms had to say:

I love Old Navy stuff. It seems to be stylish and classy for the most part. You can find everything for all ages.

I have the same problem!! My daughter can fit in some of the size 16 Crewcuts. I have also had luck buying her adult sized Gap and Old Navy items.

We had the best luck at JCPenney

During my daughters 10th year she went from a 10 in girls to a 4 in women’s – I shopped the thrift stores she was growing so fast!! – I found nice stuff! Ann Taylor, Colombia, gap…. She is now a tall 11 yo and holding steady in women’s 4-6 and medium tops – so take her with her and look around – see what she likes good luck!!

Justice

Gap (still can do some kids plus there – cut bigger than Justice), Lands End, or go to adult petites!

Dillard’s has a great tween/teen section. Nicer quality.

Dillard’s has pants that fit my very tall thin 10 yr old and they have cute stuff

Target juniors

American Eagle has cute stuff.

I’ve had issues as my daughter had transitioned. She’s still thin but growing taller. She is 14 and about 5’5″ and 100 lbs for reference. It’s not totally easy but we recently (over Christmas) found great jeans and tops from American Eagle and sweaters from Aeropostale and Target

I grow Amazons… very conservative amazons. Gordmans has served us well. So has Target – they have some long length stuff. Lands End is great too. Finding things not-hoochie was a huge challenge till I found Gordmans locally.

Boden USA, although it’s pricey. They have a lovely line of clothes for teenagers.
