There are two restaurants inside the new Bass Pro Shops, one is The Lookout and the other is a casual, underwater-themed restaurant with an amazing bowling alley – Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill.
The bowling alley has a bunch of lanes (12-14, I don’t recall exactly) and each one has a low table between the seats and at least two captains chairs overlooking the game. It would be challenging to eat while you bowl as the table is more for drinks, but anyone sitting in the captains chairs could easily enjoy a meal. The bowling lanes, like the restaurant tables, are all first come, first serve. You can reserve lanes for a birthday party.
Each lane has a different aquatic animal as the ball return (the octopus was my favorite as he’s bowling with one of his arms) and unique bowling balls that continue the theme.
Like the lanes, the restaurant continues the ocean theme everywhere (even the women’s bathroom had a very well done octopus mural on the wall).
I was a little concerned sitting down that the sound of the bowling was going to be overwhelming, but it wasn’t an issue.
There is a separate kid menu (with games and crayons) with the usual options and a unique drink menu. For the adult menu (and drinks) check their website (below).
My husband and I enjoyed the fish tacos while our big kid ate a burger (he likes them “naked” with BBQ sauce and sriracha) and our little kid had chicken nuggets (he said they were just the way he likes them) with fries and orange slices. We gobbled up the food with no complaints!
Since this visit was part of my Bass Pro tour, we didn’t have to wait in line. We arrived at 11am on Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and walked right in. I think the restaurant had just opened for the day and there was a long line outside, which continued our entire visit. So if you go on a weekend, be prepared to wait.
This is definitely a fun spot for a kid birthday party or a summer break outing with kids and their friends, or the entire family. Go check it out for yourself and let me know what you think!
