Have you ever taken a night off from being parents without leaving Memphis? We have enjoyed doing this occasionally when my mom is in town. I even blogged about it once here. I have not had the opportunity to stay at Big Cypress Lodge at Bass Pro Shops, but I did take a tour, and the first thing that popped into my head was Parental Escape. Now that the restaurant at The Lookout is open, this is really starting to make sense to me.
It probably sounds like an odd proposition at first, but this is a really nice hotel! They have unique rooms, a small spa and an exercise room, plus meeting rooms if you’re thinking about having some other type of event there. So you could spend the night, visit the spa and enjoy dinner at The Lookout (EMM Review), or go casual with food and bowling at Uncle Buck’s FishBowl. You will definitely feel like you got away (and let’s face it, we all need to get away sometimes).
The lobby is really beautiful and overlooks the store:
They told me that at night they leave on some of the inside signs, so it’s a bit like you’re outside, with some stores in the distance. My kids decided they need to make the ducks inside fly around, instead of just hanging from the ceiling.
The rooms that face the store have screened-in porches:
High ceilings, stained glass, taxidermy, “tree branch” lighting in the bathrooms, antler chandeliers, rustic-feeling (but new) materials and more make this place feel like a lodge, even though it’s inside a store in a glass pyramid.
Want to throw a party? Get a room with a patio – apparently this is the entrance to the original Pyramid?!
Or reserve this large room inside:
I’m looking forward to checkout the The Lookout restaurant soon. Please let me know if you’ve been and recommend it!
