Lots of families in East Memphis LOVE The Campus School. This elementary (grades 1-5) school is part of Shelby County Schools but it’s run in partnership with the University of Memphis and located on their campus. In prior years enrollment preference is given to students of faculty, siblings, then opened up to families that live nearby. The closer you lived to the school the better chance you had of getting a spot.
Starting in the 2017-18 school year the are going to take enrollment in the following order:
- Children of full-time faculty or professional staff
- Children of full-time maintenance and staff
- Siblings of current students
- Children living within 1.5 miles of the school
- Shelby County Schools Open Enrollment
If you’re a current Campus School family you’ve gotten a letter about this change. For anyone hoping to enroll next fall, or later, this is a big deal. If you’re within 1.5 miles of the school nothing really changes for you. If you’re outside that area you’re no longer going to get preference over anyone else in the school system. You’ll be applying for a spot via Open Enrollment/General Transfer. In prior years this has occurred online mid-February and parents have been notified of their enrollment status over the summer.
