This morning I took three kids to the new spray grounds at CMOM. They had a blast, and I met the CEO. Not a bad morning!
First, the logistics. You have to go inside to pay and get a wrist band. Everyone aged one and up has to pay, including parents. You can stash your stuff in a locker inside (bring quarters) or bring it out with you. There are a bunch of those plastic Adirondack chairs outside as well as some picnic tables. You can also bring your own chair. There is a little bit of grass, but I saw kids on towels on the concrete, so that works too. There is a soda machine outside but no water fountains. There are new bathrooms with outdoor entrances next to the CMOM entrance (thank goodness!) and a snack bar is being built as well as a gazebo for birthday parties.
There are lots of different fountains at the park – low ones for little kids and big ones for big kids. If your kid wears goggles in pools bring them – mine were convinced they needed them.
There are TWO lifeguards on duty. This morning one stayed near the entrance (which has a gate) on a tall life guard chair and when I was there the other one was walking around. They made sure the kids obeyed the rules (i.e. no running), which is really helpful, especially if you’re worried about your little one getting trampled, or inappropriate behavior.
There is more to come too! Mr. Hackett told me he might add some tricycles in the area behind the spray grounds, and there are plans to add a shaded playground and mini golf area. So stay tuned! Please check their website for hours and prices.
