Today was my last chance to get ready for Easter without one or two kids in tow, so I shopped. I also happen to be without power until around dinnertime, so coming home for lunch seemed really pointless. What can I make that doesn’t involve opening the refrigerator? Yuck. So today I tried Bogie’s Deli as it looked interesting and was nearby.

This place is what I’d call old school. Boar’s Head meats, menus written on chalk and white boards, wood paneling, mismatched chairs and vinyl tablecloths. The menu was large, and then they handed me a separate grilled cheese menu. About the “craziest” thing I saw on the menu was a sandwich made with a croissant. Like I said, old school.

They also sell various salads (chicken, egg, pasta, etc.) by the pound and had no fewer than seven layer cakes under glass. SEVEN. I don’t even think those cakes were on the menu, there were just there in front of me, on stands with glass covers, begging to be eaten. What restaurant these days has seven cakes on the menu?

My sandwich, iced tea and chips came to around $10.50. They also have kid’s meals (PB&J or grilled cheese with chips and a drink) for $3.99.
