I’ll be honest here. I’m not all that experienced with Thai food. But a friend insisted I try out Chao Praya with her, saying it was by far the best Thai food she and her husband had ever had, so off I went. (Hey, what mom turns down a lunch invitation with two other moms?…especially when I had childcare!)
Chao Praya was a little further than I’d normally drive for lunch, but I combined it with a trip to Costco so it worked out well for me. My tummy was so satisfied and happy that I skipped the Costco samples. Yup, it was that good!

I let the two more experienced moms I was with do the ordering, which helps a lot when you’re in unfamiliar territory. More than one dish had curry (Massaman Curry and Dumplings with Panang Curry Sauce), which I’m not a fan of, but apparently I don’t know what I’m talking about because those dishes were great. The noodles (Pad Thai) were the dish the other moms said their kids eat when they go there. I can see why, it’s like carbohydrate crack. I just kept shoveling more and more on my plate!
We also ate Larb Salad, Crispy Rolls and Pad Kra Pow. It was all very tasty. And while you’re there take a side trip to the Oriental Best Market next door, especially if you have your kids with you. You’ll be amazed at what’s inside!
