I’m always up for trying a new place, so on a recent date night we went to Cafe 1912 in Midtown.  This restaurant has the feel of a hidden neighborhood gem. The food is great but the decor is relatively casual – not a white tablecloth sort of place.  More of a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re found someplace special.

The open kitchen and layout can make this restaurant a little loud, which means you could bring a child here if necessary.  This isn’t the sort of place I’d would bring a child unless it’s a special occasion….or at least not one of my kids!

We both had fish – grouper off the menu and a marlin special.   Both dishes were delicious.  Then we saw profiteroles with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce on the dessert menu and knew we had to try them.  Several years ago on a trip to St. Maartin we went on a profiterole binge and these were just as good.  Definitely recommended!
