My husband and I love Houston’s. I often call it the wrong name, as it reminds us of a place we loved to frequent in Charlotte. We’ve sat at the bar and had a bite (after a wait, but when you’re without kids who cares?!) and we’ve sat at a table with two kids. The food has always been great, service too.
Some tables are covered in paper, but they don’t give out crayons. So bring your own if you’re with the kids and ask for some paper. The other thing to bring? Sippy cups. Seriously. For some reason they don’t have any cups with lids. This blows my mind. Don’t they do any takeout business that includes a drink?! At any rate, nothing adds to the stress of dining with children like worrying that your kid is going to spill whatever all over himself. Ugh. Hello Houston’s – buy some cups with lids please!
I’ve eaten various entrees there, and several burgers. Fries are fabulous. Thin and crispy. Here’s a burger (yum)….I think my husband is giving this two thumbs up?!

The inside of the restaurant is dark. Not overly dark, but just right. There are lots of booths and tables, and reasonable bar space. The wait can be long during popular times, but thankfully they have a nice place to hang out.

You can call ahead to get on the wait list. They don’t take reservations so calling ahead helps the wait.
Now you can make reservations through Urbanspoon. Also, Houston’s takes phone reservations.
