Last Monday seemed like a good day for an after-school outing, so I took two excited boys out for an ice cream.  We had not been to Baskin-Robbins on Summer, so off we went.  The employee helping us gladly got a couple of samples, which helped a lot in a difficult decision.  Both boys got small kid cones ($1.29 each) and loved them.

I loved the price, and the fact that the scoop was reasonably secured to the cone.  Even my toddler managed to keep his ice cream from falling on the floor, and it didn’t drip too badly since I helped him with the drips (hey, a mom’s gotta have a few tastes!)

Thankfully they offer samples as there are sooo many flavor options

Lots of cakes – my neighbor brought home an ice cream
cake last weekend – it was tasty!

This place is not large, but there are several tables and two high chairs.  The building is a bit run down, but it’s clean.  According to my big kid the water didn’t work in the bathroom sink, but it’s possible he just didn’t know how to work it.  Thankfully, like most moms I know, I had baby wipes in the car.

There is a patio with umbrellas as well, but given that it overlooks the parking lot and road it’s not all that appealing to me as a place to sit.

functional, but not at all appealing

The shop shares the building with a place called The Peanut Shop – a 50 yr old candy store with roasted peanuts.  This place looks like it has not been updated since it opened.  It even has old-fashioned metal scales for weighing the candy.  I’m guessing the peanuts are delicious.  This sign was outside the building, on The Peanut Shop side, which made me wonder if something else used to be sold there and the sign has remained.  Anyone know?

Does anyone know the history to this sign?
