Have you ever wanted to take your kids out for a “treat” that didn’t involve sugar or fast food? We are fortunate to have such an option! The Cosmic Coconut opened in East Memphis this Spring. Owned by a mom with three young girls, this juice bar offers tasty treats that are actually good for your kids!

In addition to juice they sell coffee, tea, smoothies, steel cut oatmeal (and a few other snacks) plus “shots” (like wheat grass) and supplements (healthy stuff you can add to your drink). There is a huge menu on the wall, or you can do what I did and just ask for a kid-friendly recommendation (there is also a menu on their website). Everything is organic and vegan.
My toddler and I split a medium Gnarly Nectar (pineapple, mango, apple) which was delicious. He wasn’t a huge fan, so I’m thinking mango probably wasn’t the best choice as it is an unusual taste. I wonder if I could get my big kid to try a Cuke Skywalker (apples, cucumbers) given the Star Wars name. Hmmmm….
This is definitely a kid-friendly spot. There is a tot-sized table and chairs with some books and crayons, plus the owner, Ashley, plans to put a chalkboard on the wall for more doodling space. She’s also thinking about adding a story time, which would be wonderful. When I mentioned this to the EMMs one wisely said: “Suggest afternoons! Wouldn’t it be nice to somewhere at 3 this summer when it is scorching hot and get a cold drink and have a book read to your kids?!?”
