Memphis Trunk or Treat

October 25, 2019 by Sally Leave a Comment

There are so many awesome family-oriented Memphis Trunk or Treat Halloween events happening! If you’re interested in a trick or treating experience that doesn’t involve walking around a neighborhood check out these area Memphis Trunk or Treat and Halloween Carnival events. Also check the Pumpkins, Hayrides, Mazes & More post for ongoing events.

Don’t forget to be respectful of the organizations hosting these events. If they ask you to bring a canned good or $1 or a bag of candy for payment, do it! This is a great time to teach kids about manners, patience, and what “you may take 2” means!

Please share anything I’ve missed via a comment, including event times as some of those are not currently listed online.

Crittermaking 101 Powered by Arrow Creative
Arrow Creative
2:00 PM
Learn how to bring a lump of clay to life with Becky Zee! This class will take you on a whirlwind tour of her process in which you will learn a basic pottery technique called “pinch pot” construction. Next, you will learn how to turn that pinch pot into a basic critter body and add all the details that you can think of to create your own whimsical wonder. The only limit is your imagination\; does your critter have scales? What about a huge spiky tail? Curly swirly horns? Three eyes? Shaggy hair? If you can dream it, Becky Zee will help you make it come alive!Kids are welcome with an adult present (must be at least 10 yrs. old). All creations will begiven a waterproof clear glaze and fired off-site. Finished Critters will be brought back to Arrow for pickup 2 weeks after the class. Class fee includes all supplies and tools needed to bring your critter to life. All YOU need to bring is your imagination. Meet Arrow Instructor, Becky ZeeA life-long love affair with clay began when Becky sat down at her first potter’s wheel in the 7th grade. She made lots of muddy lumps, but not too many recognizable pots. Undaunted, she resolved to one day become a good potter. Over the 25 years that followed, she took classes, hoarded pottery equipment, and jumped on every clay-related opportunity that came her way.Today, she proudly runs her own ceramics studio in Memphis, TN.Beckyembraces the imperfections in her thrown work and plays it to her advantage in her creative process. Her loose, carefree style and wacky sense of humor gives each one of her “critters” that unique spark of life that makes you grin every time you see them.To see more of Becky’s creations and get a peek at what’s coming next, visit her on Facebook or Instagram @BeckyZee38104. You can also visit her website and sign up for her newsletter at www.beckyzee.com.
