For some wonderful reason, a lot of area museums offer free or discounted admission to TN residents on Tuesdays…while others offer discounts and freebies on other days.  This is a great way to check out a spot you may not frequent enough to buy a membership.  Also, if you’re a member of the Children’s Museum of Memphis you can take advantage of a number of perks, including discounted admission to other museums!  Here’s a list of Memphis museum discounts or free days:

The Dixon Gardens are beautiful


National Civil Rights Museum
free from 3-5pm (3-6pm June-August)
not offered during nationally observed holidays and special events including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Columbus Day. 


Memphis Zoo
free to Tennessee residents from 2-close (must be 17+ or be with someone who is 21+)
this discount is not offered in March (due to Spring Break)

The Pink Palace
free museum admission from 1pm-close
Enchanted Forest, IMAX and Planetarium shows are not included

Lichterman Nature Center
free from 1pm-close

Dixon Gallery & Gardens
“pay what you can” from 10am-4pm

Stax Museum of American Soul Music
free to Shelby County residents from 1-5pm (must be 16+ or accompanied by an adult, not valid during holidays)


Memphis Brooks Museum of Art

Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art
Shelby County residents get $1 off admission on the third Wednesday of each month from 3-5pm
