Being a parent is tough, and even when you’re away from your kids you’re still “on duty.”  Sometimes it’s nice to leave town for the weekend, especially with your spouse!  A mom recently asked for recommendations for an April weekend getaway to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary.  We were fortunate enough to go to St. Martin for our 10th…and it was awesome! (unfortunately my husband got laid off the day after we returned, but that’s another story).

Celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary in St. Martin

Here are the places and hotels the moms recommend:

The Alluvian Hotel/Spa in Greenwood, MS

Third the Alluvian. It’s about 2 hours. We have been twice and it’s wonderful, and you can catch a cooking class while you are there.

Greenwood, Ms!! Alluvian Hotel, spa, Viking Cooking School, and lot of neat boutique shopping and walking around.

Alluvian or Four Seasons St. Louis both are awesome!!!

Alluvian. But book now! Get into any cooking class, and book a spa treatment. Be sure to eat the blueberry scones at breakfast!

Alluvian or Four Seasons St. Louis both are awesome!!!

Gatlinburg, TN

Gatlinburg Convention & Visitors Bureau

Gatlinburg is beautiful in the spring. Or Hot Springs, Arkansas. Both have a range of hotels and spas.

Buckhorn Inn right outside Gatlinburg is WONDERFUL! We did a long weekend there a few years ago.

Branson, MO and she can sign up for and They have getaways at a discount.

The Shack Up Inn in Mississippi is funky and cool, especially if you are a music lover. Facebook page

My husband and I got engaged and stayed at the Bonne Terre in Nesbit MS. They have a french restaurant there and the rooms are beautiful.

Double Decker Arts Fest in oxford is in april and really fun! Anything good will be booked already though I bet.

I am surprising my husband with a short getaway next week to a little place called “Blue Creek Cabin.” It is a very private, quaint little log cabin on 10 acres just outside Oxford, MS. It’s a b&b and also includes a bottle of wine for an incredible price. ($69/night). In/out firepits, copper tub, indoor water pump! Perfect place for some peace away from the kids, the city, and the rat race! We are outdoorsy, and my husband is DEFINITELY not a spa person, so I feel like I got really lucky finding this little gem! Almost want to keep it to myself, lol!

Natchez, MS 5 hours away…Spring pilgrimage … If u like history & awesome restaurants

Nashville has great places from The Hermitage to The Embassy Suites in the Vandy area

Hotel Preston in Nashville. They have a private jet that will take to Las Vegas and the Bahamas 🙂

Smithville, TN

Evans Mill in Middle TN.

Hilltop Bed and Breakfast in Hot Springs, AR was amazing. The most relaxing get away. Afternoon snacks are gourmet and breakfast is served in suite, on the porch or in the dining room (3 courses). I highly recommend it.

Lookout Point Inn B&B outside of Hot Springs, AR, on Lake Hamilton.

Eureka Springs!! Lovely town! Awesome cottages, some provide some meals! I stayed at the Belladonna. It’s beautiful!

Hot Springs is the best, and less than 4 hours away.
Spring Street Inn (B & B), Hot Springs Arkansas (get the 2nd floor room of the Carriage House).

We had fun in downtown little rock

Chattanooga is great. rock city, ruby falls, downtown, aquarium, and lots of little b and b’s and nice hotels
