We’re so fortunate to have the Woodland Discovery Playground in our area! This opened April of 2011, have you been? It’s fun for toddlers to elementary school kids. Here is my full review.
My little kid and I went the other day and I was pleased to see several updates. The vines are making good progress growing over the metal arbor and the young trees look happy (always better than brown). Here’s what else I noticed while I was there:
|Two large umbrellas in the sand area|
|slide mats with handles in the slide area –
this should make sliding easier and help
with the heat too
|More trash can!|
Speaking of trash cans, I chatted with an employee while I was there and she stressed that kids should NOT have any food or drinks (except water) with them while they are playing in the nests. They don’t need sticky juice spilled on those fancy surfaces or bug-attracting crumbs. Stick to the benches and grass areas for your snacks and picnics.
And speaking of food. The area behind the sand nest is roped off and a new cement pad has been poured. Apparently a booth will be built there, I think she said for the Italian ice truck. At any rate, hopefully this won’t increase the amount of trash left in places besides the additional trash cans they’ve added to the playground.
