    This is my email to Kidz Kountry after we experienced their petting zoo at the Bartlett Festival today:

    Our family was at the petting zoo today at the Bartlett Festival. We all love animals and while we are not experts at livestock husbandry, I know enough to know that the hooves of all of the animals were extremely long, especially on the goats. It is very important for their overall health to have their hooves kept trimmed. If hooves are left too long it can make it difficult for the goat to walk, and can effect joints in the pastern and knees. As hooves grow, they often curl over trapping bacteria against the foot pad. This can cause hoof rot and infection.

    I know it is difficult to keep up with grooming on that many animals, but if someone isn’t able to do it or pay for it, you really should consider having less animals. The fact that you let your animals go out to a large event with their hooves in that condition is absolutely appalling and shameful.

    Hands down Menagerie Farm is the best of the BEST!! Kids have a blast and are treated like royalty during thier special day, the staff is AMAZING!!! and the animals are so well taken care of!!. Some of the animals are free roaming which only adds to the awesomeness of the Menagerie experience. During the parties we have had there it’s not unusual to have a pig, goat, raccoon, or even a deer come and participate in the festivities. So cool! My kids LOVED that the animals are so friendly and gentle. obviously they are very well cared for and loved. My kids always look forward to summertime too, when day camp starts up. They can’t get enough!! We don’t miss a Menagerie event they always have special farm days which again are AMAZING!! not sure how the staff does it, but they are wonderful!! Moving from NH several years ago we missed farms and country life, we have certainly found a hidden treasure right here in Collierville.

    Just wondering if anyone has used Kidz Kountry Petting Zoo before? I am thinking about hiring them to come to our house for my son’s 2nd birthday, but I am looking for some reviews.

      I asked on the EMM Facebook page. 2 positive responses, no negative.
      ” My babe had a birthday party there and it was really nice. There is also a pretty amazing play set right across from the eating area when we were done with all their activities we got to let the kids okay a s long as they wanted. Its a very personable experience. Our party was the last of the day. When we arrived there was another party at the eating area. They were already done with other activities. The folks that own the place took there time and paid lots of attention to the kids. They were also good at kid wrangling”

      Way more pros than cons: Kidz Kountry was cheaper than other places, they had lots of amazingly sweet staff, they took out the animals (which most companies won’t do), and price includes train around neighborhood, plenty of food for kids to feed animals. Last pro: you don’t have to do a THING for two hours, but serve cake and ice cream! The kids are really engaged the whole time. Con: one of the two horses for horse back riding ate some bark off my dogwood, price was expensive, but worth it to me for as little as I had to do.
